Just got back from Hayley's assessment. Not sure how she really did but the teacher said that she was on par with the other students. Orientation next week (day before school starts).

Did ask why it's half-day when everyone else everywhere else seems to be full day. Mrs. D said that it's because there's not enough space in the schools, especially in our district, and they won't be building more schools for a good couple of years. But she said that it's going to be mandated by 2000 something and it'll probably take that long to get it done.

Asked about snack time, too - they do have it but it's part of recess which is 15 minutes. WTH? Guess they don't have enough time for that one in a half-day setting. LOL! But snack time is community snack which sounds like all the parents will be bringing food in. Not sure about drinks, too. That's part of orientation. Personally I would much rather have gotten a sheet about the rules of the class during assessment and then be able to ask questions at orientation after we've had a while to think about it. Plus you would think that since the school gets food deliveries anyway for the cafeteria that they could get snacks, too. I'd much rather pay $X per month and have it taken care of than have to deliver snacks to the class. Who knows...maybe it will be done that way but I have to wait until next week to find out. I mean, what do parents do who work full-time in terms of dropping off stuff?!?!?
