spawning sockeye salmon

Try saying that 3 times really fast!

I read in the paper about the salmon spawning and the naturalists being at several locations along the Cedar River explaining about the salmon and the river. It was a sunny day so I suggested we go. Hayley had been kind of bummed ever since we went to Ballard Locks in the spring and didn't see any fish in the ladders. The naturalists were going to be out for the next 3 or 4 weekends but who knew if the weather was going to be as nice. LOL!

Heading out to see the salmon!

A sign down by the overlook.

Evidently they expected a couple hundred thousand salmon to return to spawn but only got maybe a quarter to a third of the number.

Reading the sign by the water overlook.

Jacob decided that he didn't want to ride in the stroller for the hike but walk. Walking in circles, walking away from the group, falling in the mud, falling in the rock, walking to walk.

Going on a hike with the naturalists.

Seattle's drinking water. It's only chlorinated and screened to keep the big stuff out. HUH? I want my water filtered to at least 5 micron and then blasted to kill everything! I might have to rethink the whole Brita/Pur thing now.

Ugh - that water thing is disturbing. Reverse Osmosis system - that will take all the bad stuff out!

Be watching your mail box my friend :-)
