Jacob's surgery

was yesterday. We had to get to Children's in downtown Seattle at 6:15 which meant waking up at 4 something. He got some "happy juice" to calm him down before they took him back. While he was gone we went to the cafeteria for breakfast. Hayley kept wanting to go find him to make sure that he was okay. After about 30 minutes we got buzzed via the beeper to come back to the recovery area. Dr. S explained what she had done. Turns out that he didn't need all the other stuff done that she thought he might. WHEW!

He finally came back from post-op and was NOT a happy camper. Not sure how much was recovery from the anesthesia (they used general and a breathing tube) but a lot of it was from the IV still left in his left arm. He kept trying to pull it out. After about 30 minutes of general crying and fussiness, he finally fell asleep. Only to be woken up to have the IV taken out and us given his discharge orders.

Picked up the drugs at the pharmacy on the way to the car. I sat in the back with the kids and he wouldn't let go of my finger. *sigh*

As soon as we got home, he was all over everything as usual. Funny cause we were told to limit his activity for the next 2 days (discharge nurse laughed when she read us that one and told us "good luck....he's a boy!"). Even with the narcotic on board, he didn't take a nap until after 5 and that was for about 30 minutes.

And this morning, he got up before 7. I'm TIRED....

Shirley,
What kind of surgery did Jacob have? Regardless I'm so glad he came out of the whole thing okay. It looks like you are adjusting very well to Seattle. I see tickets from here to there are under $300.00. When should I come and visit :-)
