2 weeks in SC
Sitting at SeaTac waiting for our plane.

Word find to pass the time.

Jacob loved sitting by the window.

Sunset somewhere. That was before us trying to land in ATL. I believe that we were over TN when the pilot announced that Hartsfield was shut down and basically only 1 plane was allowed to land or depart at a time. Am guessing due to weather. Said that we were in a holding pattern and had about 25 minutes of fuel. After about 30 minutes of circling he came back on and said that we were like 5th in line to land and it would take about another 20 minutes. Math wasn't adding up. On our approach to ATL the plane started to feel like a horrendous roller coaster. Some people were screaming. Hayley asked if we were going to die. Nice! I had originally had the kids alternating sitting by the window. After that it was Jacob by the window, me in the middle and Hayley on the aisle.

First trip down to the dock once we got to SC Thursday morning.

Never get tired of that view!

Evidence of the many meals from the raccoons.

Jacob throwing the shells off the dock.

Dad pulling up the trap.

First look at the crabs in the trap.

Fig tree

Blueberry bushes

Tangerine tree

Pear trees

Persimmon tree

Picking blueberries!

We had gone down to the dock Friday morning. Had already done this several times since arriving. Not sure if a boat went by and left a wake or what but we were all on the floating dock. Jacob was leaning over to look in the water. Next thing I knew he fell in. Hayley screamed. He didn't surface as fast as I thought he would plus the tide was coming in. I jumped in and grabbed him. Tried to push him but didn't have enough strength. Finally managed to get him up enough for Hayley to pull him up. I then tried to pull myself up and couldn't. Got scraped by the oysters/barnacles on the underside of the dock. Told Hayley to get help. She ran back to the house to get grandma and grandpa. They came down and tried to pull me up. Nothing doing and I almost ended up pulling them in. Dad went back to the house to get a ladder. And managed to grab the camera as well. HA! Meanwhile this whole time I'm hanging on to the anchor thing (where boats tie up) with my arms and my legs are wedged up on the side of the dock like I'm about to do the back stroke. For 15 minutes or so. Couldn't move my neck and barely my arms for the next week. Poor Jacob got this sad look on his face and said that it was all his fault.....

Trying to help Grandma sew some small rice pouches for a game. As you can see, no ill effects from the earlier trauma.

Trying to see what would be caught. I wanted to use the cast net but didn't have an out of state fishing license. Didn't realize that I would need one. Oh well. Caught some big shrimp......for the creek anyway. Hayley and Jacob would pick them up and put them in the bucket of water.

Uncle Ken throwing the cast net.

Tina finally got the hang of it and pretty much threw a perfect cast!

Bird caught a fish!

Lanta and I had been planning on trying to get together ever since I booked our plane tickets. She had carpal tunnel surgery on her other hand right before and wasn't sure if she would be able to make it. Luckily she got her stitches taken out and was okay. Jeff drove. With his bad back. It was so great to see them again! We truly miss them and Hayley talks about Sadie all the time.
Lanta brought the kids belated birthday gifts. And some UGA stuff for us. Thanks!

Hayley spent the night with Sadie in the hotel. They went to Ihop the next day for breakfast and then spent the rest of the time in the pool. We joined them after lunch.
Hayley having fun with the float.

Lanta trying to convince Jacob to get in to the pool. No luck.

Hayley finally managed to convince Jacob to get into the pool. The whole time before this (hours) he wouldn't go in, saying "he fell off the dock, remember?!?!?".

Jacob finally having fun at the pool.

Lanta and I at Vickery's for dinner. We had no clue where to go and ended up here. Gotta love the shiny faces from being outside all day. We were hoping to get outside to take more pictures but it ended up raining. Kids were bummed.

This bird pretty much lives under the dock. We saw it swimming under the water to catch and eat small fish. Never flew away when we were there.

Stone crabs. First time I had ever seen them that big. The bigger one only had 1 claw while the smaller one had both. We later caught 2 again in the trap and both of them had both of their claws. We threw them all back.

Crabs

We played tourist one day. Hit the water fountain. Great way for the kids to cool off. Jacob didn't want anything to do with it though.

Carnival cruise ship in town. Lots of police directing traffic.

Getting a push from Uncle Ken on the swing.

One of the cobblestone drives.

The Market. Still want something sweet grass related but dang those things are $$$$!!

Temp without the humidity factored in. Nice!

Angel Oak.

Hitting the Battery.

Climbing the cannon balls. They were hot.

Crazy couple who got married and had some pictures taken at the gazebo. It was HOT!

Jacob wanted to climb on top of the cannon but never made it up. LOL!

We went to Sullivan's Island to get shells for the kids. And for them to see what a beach with warm water is like. LOL! The bags were for the kids to put their shells in. We found small ones. I remember bigger ones as a kid but Ken said that we probably would've had more luck on the ends of the island instead of the middle where we were. Plus I can't remember what the tide situation was.

Sea oats

TONS of dogs of all shapes and sizes were out.

Jacob didn't like the sand very much. LOL!

Betsy and her twins, Matt and Alex. They are 3 days older than Hayley but came a month early. It was great seeing them again!

Our trip home was from hell. We were scheduled to leave Charleston at 3:30 but ended up getting a voice mail on my cell stating that the flight was cancelled and we were going to get to Seattle via Detroit. Called Delta to make sure that we were seated together and was told that that flight was cancelled and we were now going via ATL again. At 6:25. Get to the airport and find out that the flight is delayed 20 minutes. Great. Get to ATL and get the kids something to eat (was around 8 pm now). Get to the gate. Find out that the flight was moved or else the one screen we looked at was wrong. Get to the right gate. 10 minutes before boarding we're told that the plane has mechanical issues and we need to get a new plane. Which is in a different terminal. So everyone of us scrambles for the escalators and the train. Get to the new terminal/gate to find out that we're delayed for about 20 minutes. Plus there's an announcement that there is NO food on the plane. If you want something to eat, you need to buy it before you get on. We got beverage service and pretzels. Couldn't sleep. Jacob dozed off relatively early and had his head on my lap. Hayley had discovered the music section of the screen in front of her and was singing. Soon, she, too was trying to sleep but it was hard since she was leaning against me. Finally land and Jimmy was waiting for us at the baggage claim. Get home almost around 2. Get in showers and finally hit the bed around 2:30.
